An Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Urban Farming Solution: Agribusiness Study Program Hydroponic Vegetable Cultivation in the Hallway of FST Building
On September 12, 2024, the Agribusiness Study Program organized an Urban Farming activity featuring hydroponic vegetable cultivation at the corridor of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) building. This event is part of an effort to offer an efficient and eco-friendly urban farming solution. Using the hydroponic method, vegetable cultivation is done without soil, utilizing nutrient-enriched water. This allows farming to be carried out in limited urban spaces while also reducing water usage compared to conventional farming methods. Additionally, the event aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture in the face of urbanization challenges.
The hydroponic vegetables cultivated in this activity are then sold to the academic community at an affordable price, starting from IDR 3,000 for 300 grams. These low prices are expected to encourage the community to consume quality local products while supporting the Urban Farming movement. Therefore, this initiative not only benefits the environment but also opens up agribusiness opportunities in urban areas.
