Collaboration between FST UIN Jakarta and BAKTI Kominfo: BTS Survey in Six 3T Areas for Equitable Internet

From November 25 to 29, 2024, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) team from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with BAKTI Kominfo, conducted a survey on the quality and service of Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in six strategic areas: Seram, Bombana, Sumbawa, Sintang, Natuna, and Nias. This survey was carried out in partnership with BTS service providers as part of a commitment to improving internet access in Indonesia’s frontier, outermost, and remote regions.

This activity was not without challenges encountered in the field. Difficult and inaccessible terrain was one of the main obstacles, compounded by weather conditions that often disrupted the journey. Nevertheless, the team managed to overcome most of these challenges through collaboration and high dedication.

The results of this survey showed that although the target was not fully achieved—reaching only about 90% of the planned goal—this success remains an important step toward improving internet services in those regions. The survey provided valuable data for future strategic decision-making.

It is hoped that through continuous efforts like this, internet services in Indonesia’s frontier, outermost, and remote regions will improve, fostering social equity for all Indonesian citizens.
