DOW Connect and Inspire: A University Symposium on Sustainable Progress by DOW and FST UIN Jakarta
Symposium on Sustainable Progress in collaboration with Dow Chemical and Arizona State University. Located at the FST Theater on the 2nd floor, the event was opened by Prof. Arif Zamhari, M.Ag., Ph.D. from the International Cooperation Service Center. The symposium presented two speakers, Falik Batubara from Dow Indonesia and Agus Salim, Head of Biology Department of UIN Jakarta, with moderator Puspi Eko Wiranthi from Agribusiness Department.
Falik Batubara explained Dow's strategy in supporting decarbonization and sustainability through three main pillars: carbon emission reduction, circular economy-based plastic waste management, and recycled packaging development. Meanwhile, Agus Salim highlighted the serious impacts of oil spills and microplastics in Indonesia's border regions, which threaten marine ecosystems and public health. He emphasized the importance of technology-based solutions, cross-border cooperation, and education to maintain the sustainability of the coastal environment.
