FST UIN Jakarta Advances Academic Excellence: Integrating Digital Departmental Services and Student Engagement Strategies
The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UIN Jakarta convened its faculty meeting on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the 2nd Floor Theater Room. The meeting focused on a comprehensive transformation of academic services and pedagogical strategies to meet the challenges of modern higher education, specifically regarding curriculum standards, thesis management, and student participation.
The session began with Taufik Edy Sutanto, Ph.D., who detailed the execution of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) within the FST Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring that student learning outcomes are systematically tracked. This was followed by Dr. Dewi Khairani, M.Sc., who showcased the Departmental Information Service System. This digital platform is specifically optimized to streamline administrative bureaucracy and allow faculty to monitor students' final thesis progress more effectively, ultimately accelerating graduation rates through a more transparent digital ecosystem.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Lila Setiyani, M.Kom. (Dean of FTIK at Horizon University), provided profound insights into student engagement. She argued that engagement must encompass behavioral, emotional, and cognitive involvement, anchored by a foundation of emotional safety that encourages students to participate without fear of failure. By implementing the CONNECT-COACH-PRACTICE-REFLECT model combined with Design Thinking, instructors are encouraged to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. The meeting concluded with a call to shift toward Assessment for Learning, utilizing project-based assessments and digital rubrics to provide immediate, specific feedback, ensuring that every student remains an active and motivated participant in their educational journey.
