FST UIN Jakarta's Visit to Japan: Monitoring Student Internship Program by the Head of Agribusiness and Vice Dean for Student Affairs

The Agribusiness Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continues to strengthen its international collaboration, particularly in enhancing student competencies through overseas internship programs. In line with this commitment, the Head of the Agribusiness Study Program, Rizki Adi Puspita Sari, SP., MM., together with the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Collaboration of FST UIN Jakarta, Khodijah Hulliyah, M.Si., Ph.D., conducted an official visit to Japan from July 12 to 16, 2025.

This visit was a follow-up to an official invitation extended by North Brand (NB), an agency company that serves as a strategic partner of the Agribusiness Study Program in facilitating student internship placements in various agribusiness companies across Japan. The main objective of the visit was to conduct monitoring and evaluation of the ongoing internship program, which currently involves 19 Agribusiness students placed at two locations: JA Nakashibetsu in Hokkaido and JA Nagasaki.

During the visit, the delegation not only met directly with the students at their residences (apato), but also observed first-hand the work processes at the partner companies. One of the key activities was a field visit to the operational site of JA Nakashibetsu on Monday, July 14, 2025, where the delegation observed post-harvest handling of major commodities such as daikon radish and broccoli, as well as the maintenance of potato crops across expansive farmland.

The delegation also held discussions with JA representatives about the students’ internship experiences, challenges encountered, and potential future collaboration. As part of academic diplomacy and institutional networking, the visit continued to the Nakashibetsu City Government Office for a meeting with the Mayor of Nakashibetsu. This meeting marked a strategic initial step toward expanding collaborative opportunities among local government, Japanese agribusiness companies, and UIN Jakarta.

North Brand, as the inviting and facilitating party, fully covered the expenses of the trip, including accommodation and transportation within Japan. This initiative reflects the strong commitment of the Agribusiness Study Program at FST UIN Jakarta to providing international exposure for its students while reinforcing global synergy in agribusiness education.
