Guest Lecture by Prof. Dr. Elsa Jeanne Clave from the University of Hamburg: Deeper Understanding of Qualitative Research Methods”
On Friday, September 6, 2024, the Agribusiness Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a public lecture with the theme 'Understanding More about Qualitative Research Methods.' The event featured an expert in qualitative research, Prof. Dr. Elsa Jeanne Clave from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and was moderated by Mr. Akhmad Mahbubi, S.P., M.M, Ph.D.
The event was opened by Ms. Rizki Adi Puspita Sari, S.P., M.M. (Head of the Agribusiness Program), followed by a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Khodijah Hulliyah, M.Si., Ph.D. (Vice Dean 3 for Cooperation and Student Affairs). The lecture was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and was attended by lecturers and students interested in deepening their understanding of qualitative research. The participants enthusiastically engaged in an interactive discussion session, where they could ask Prof. Dr. Elsa Jeanne Clave directly about the challenges and opportunities in qualitative research.
Prof. Dr. Elsa Jeanne Clave is a renowned academic and researcher, and she presented the importance of qualitative research methods in understanding social, cultural, and human behavior phenomena. In her presentation, she discussed various qualitative approaches such as case studies, phenomenology, ethnography, as well as effective methods for collecting and analyzing qualitative data.
'Qualitative research is a crucial tool for researchers to delve deeper into the meanings behind the data. It's not just about numbers but understanding the context and human experiences,' said Prof. Dr. Elsa Jeanne Clave.
