Public Lecture of Informatics Engineering Study Program “Human-Machine Cooperation & Reinforcement Learning” with Prof. Dr. Ismail Khalil

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Informatics Engineering Study Program FST UIN Jakarta held a Public Lecture by presenting Prof. Dr. Ismail Khalil from Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria, as a speaker. Located in the FEB Theater Room 2nd Floor, the topic “Human-Machine Cooperation and Reinforcement Learning” managed to attract the enthusiasm of the participants. One of the highlights of this session was the in-depth explanation of the differences between Reinforcement Learning, Supervised Learning, and Unsupervised Learning delivered through simple illustrations. This approach made complex concepts easier to understand for the participants.

In the Q&A session, the discussion was interactive, with one of the interesting questions raised was how to determine the quality of feedback from the environment in Reinforcement Learning. Prof. Ismail explained that the quality of feedback depends on the system's ability to define a relevant and accurate reward function. The answer opened up participants' insights into the importance of designing learning systems that are able to interpret feedback appropriately.
