The 2023 Chemistry in Village (CIV) committee held an environmental seminar and workshop in Tajurhalang Village, Bogor Regency, on Thursday, August 7, 2025. The event focused on two main topics: processing organic waste from banana peels into solid and liquid fertilizers, and managing inorganic plastic waste through ecobrick making. By combining scientific knowledge with simple, practical steps, the program encouraged around 50 participants to care more about household waste and transform it into valuable products.

The banana peel processing session covered drying, chopping, and fermentation methods to produce nutrient-rich organic fertilizers for plants. Meanwhile, the ecobrick workshop showcased how compacted plastic waste in used bottles can be repurposed into lightweight building materials. The interactive event aimed to inspire long-term sustainable waste management habits that contribute to cleaner environments, starting from each participant’s own home.
