Septian Putra Pratama's Team Receives Incubation Funding from Google and Ministry of Education for Early Fire Detection Application

South Tangerang, July 11, 2024 – On the graduation day of Bangkit Academy for the odd semester, an impressive achievement was announced. One of the top teams, Team Septian Putra Pratama, succeeded in securing incubation funding from Google Indonesia and the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture. This team comprises dedicated members, including Muhamad Ilham Darmawan (Informatics Engineering, UIN 2021), Iqbal Maulana (Informatics Engineering, UIN 2021), Joko Prasetyo (Mechanical Engineering, PNJ 2021), Fitria Widyani (Informatics, UTB 2021), Natalia Reta Budiarti (Information Technology, UKDW 2021), and Rahmadhania (Statistics, USK 2020). Team Septian outperformed 647 other teams from the initial stage to the final. They presented an application project aimed at early fire detection using CCTV. This idea arose from their concern over the high number of fires occurring in Indonesia every year.

Muhamad Ilham Darmawan, one of the team members, explained, “This application started from our concern about the high number of fire incidents in Indonesia.” Ilham also emphasized the urgency of this issue by saying, “Every year, thousands of homes and buildings in Indonesia experience fires, resulting in material losses and even lives. We felt the need to take concrete action to address this issue.”

Septian designed a revolutionary application system. This system can not only detect fire using general cameras but also detect smoke and provide real-time alerts to users via smartphones. The goal is to ensure that fires can be immediately addressed, thus preventing further losses.

The achievement of Team Septian originated from the Bangkit Academy program, which is a competency development program for students to pursue careers in technology. This program is designed through partnerships with the Directorate General of Higher Education, Google, Gojek, Tokopedia, Traveloka, and academic partners. Teams that make it into the Top 10 Final Capstone Projects at Bangkit Academy have the opportunity to receive funding from Google and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology amounting to IDR 140,000,000 to continue developing their applications into innovative startups.

The achievement of Team Septian reflects the commitment of students in developing innovative security solutions and contributing positively to Indonesian society. However, their journey has just begun. Always stay tuned for Septian's progress through the available timelines.
