In order to broaden students' knowledge of sustainable energy, the Chemistry Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Studium Generale event featuring speakers from PT Pertamina (Persero). The event, themed “From the Frying Pan to the Wings of an Airplane: Green Technology for Sustainable Aviation Fuel,” began with a speech by the Head of the Chemistry Study Program, Dr. Yusraini Dian Inayati Siregar, M.Si., who emphasized the importance of student involvement in supporting the transition to green energy and the role of academics in sustainability issues.

In their presentation, the speakers from Pertamina explained the use of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) as raw materials for biofuel, Indonesia's great potential in the UCO supply chain, and pretreatment and catalytic conversion technologies through hydrodeoxygenation and isomerization to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in accordance with international Jet A-1 standards. The event was met with great enthusiasm, marked by active student participation in discussions on technical aspects of production, supply chain challenges, and Indonesia's opportunities in the field of green energy. Through this interactive forum, students not only gained the latest insights into SAF technology, but were also motivated to contribute to research and innovation in sustainable energy, thereby fostering synergy between academia and industry to achieve sustainable development.
