To Enhance Field Skills, the Mining Engineering Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Jakarta, Holds a Geology Field Course in Kebumen

The Mining Engineering Study Program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, successfully conducted the 2026 Geological Field Course for 3rd-semester students. This immersive field learning activity took place over six days, from September 27 to October 2, 2026, centered at the Geological Conservation and Information Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Geodiversity Site in Karangsambung, Kebumen, Central Java. Recognized as one of Indonesia's premier natural geological laboratories, Karangsambung was strategically selected to provide students with hands-on experience in geological mapping and field observation across ancient oceanic crust and tectonic melange exposures.

Throughout the field course, students received comprehensive practical training in geological mapping, rock identification, structural geology analysis, and Earth history reconstruction. The field investigations and data collection were directly supervised by experienced lecturers and instructors to refine the students' skills in geometric analysis, geological compass measurements, and rock unit classification. Through the 2026 Geological Field Course, the Mining Engineering Study Program at FST UIN Jakarta reinforces its dedication to solidifying foundational Earth science principles, equipping future mining engineers with strong analytical competence and field readiness to meet the evolving demands of the global mineral industry.
