The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, through the Mining Engineering Study Program, successfully held the National Seminar VARVA 2025 on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The event, themed “The Direction of the National Mining Industry: Addressing Global Economic Challenges and Geopolitical Uncertainty,” served as a strategic platform connecting regulators, industry players, academics, investors, and HR practitioners to discuss the future of Indonesia’s mining sector.

Distinguished speakers included:

1. Dr. Siti Sumilah Rita Susilawati, S.T., M.Sc. – Secretary General of Mineral and Coal

2. Hendra Sinadia, S.H., MBA. – Executive Director, Indonesian Mining Association (IMA)

3. Umar Rivaldy, B.Eng., M.M., cp(sni), MausIMM. – Managing Director, Minevesting Group

4. Prof. Irwandi Arif, Ph.D. – Chairman, Indonesian Mining Institute (IMI)

5. Ratih Dewihandjani, S.H., S.E., LL.M. – Director of Human Resources, PT Antam Tbk

Each speaker shared key insights from their respective perspectives — covering government policies, industrial challenges, investment outlook, sustainable mining governance, and strategies for developing skilled and globally competitive human resources.

This seminar marked the culmination of the VARVA 2025 series, which also included the VARVA Workshop and the National Mining Student Competition (NMSC) II VARVA 2025. All events were successfully executed, fostering collaboration among academia and industry while inspiring future mining professionals. Through VARVA 2025, UIN Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to developing competent, ethical, and innovative mining engineers ready to face future industrial challenges.
