On Wednesday-Thursday, April 24-25, 2024, the Faculty of Science and Technology at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta received a visit from the international accreditation team of ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik). This visit aimed to accredit the Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics study programs within the faculty. The ASIIN accreditation team consisted of several prominent international experts, including Prof. Dr. Tilmann Achstetter from the University of Applied Sciences Bremen, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilda Assiyantun from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. Marc Brecht from the University of Applied Sciences Reutlingen, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erlia Narulita from the University of Jember, Dr. Frank-Peter Ritter as an independent expert, Jihan Wardani from the University of Lampung as the student representative, and Rainer Arnold Dipl. Phys. from the ASIIN Office.

The benefits of ASIIN accreditation are highly significant for higher education institutions such as UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Firstly, this accreditation provides international recognition, affirming that the accredited study programs meet global quality standards. This not only enhances the university's reputation in the eyes of academics and prospective students worldwide but also strengthens its position on the international higher education map. This recognition can serve as a unique attraction for prospective students, both domestic and international, seeking high-quality education.

Moreover, ASIIN accreditation helps improve the overall quality of education. The rigorous accreditation process compels study programs to continually engage in self-evaluation and ongoing improvement. This involves enhancing curricula, teaching methods, facilities, and human resources. Consequently, students receive a better learning experience that is relevant to the latest developments in science and technology. Faculty members and staff are also encouraged to continually develop themselves and enhance their competencies through training and research.

International accreditation from ASIIN also opens up greater opportunities for graduates to compete in the global job market. With a certification recognized internationally, graduates from ASIIN-accredited study programs have a competitive edge in the workforce. They are acknowledged for possessing skills and knowledge that meet international standards, which are highly valued by multinational companies and global research institutions. Additionally, this accreditation facilitates academic mobility, both in the form of student exchanges and opportunities to continue studies at leading universities worldwide.
