Biology Study Program Faculty of Science and Technology organized a Field Study on Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Biodiversity as well as a Community Service Mangrove Planting Activity in the Pulau Pari Area, Kepulauan Seribu.
From May 31 to June 2, 2024, the Biology Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, organized a highly valuable academic and social activity. This activity included a Field Study on Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Biodiversity and Community Service through Mangrove Planting in the Pulau Pari Area, Kepulauan Seribu.
The event was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Lily Surayya Eka Putri, M.Env.Stud, representing the SDGs Center of UIN Jakarta. Her presence added a profound academic atmosphere and facilitated hands-on learning for students on marine and coastal ecosystem biodiversity. Additionally, the activity involved Mrs. Asmania, an environmental activist from the Pulau Pari Women's Group Community, who brought practical perspectives and field experience related to environmental conservation efforts in the area.
In this activity, students not only gained theoretical knowledge but also practical experience through direct interaction with nature and the local community. Mangrove planting became a primary focus as a tangible form of community service, aiming to strengthen coastal ecosystems and provide long-term benefits for the environment and local community.
The collaboration between academics, students, and the local community demonstrated UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in terms of marine and coastal ecosystem conservation and local community empowerment. This activity is expected to serve as a model for similar programs in the future, harmoniously combining education, research, and community service elements.
