UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Pushes Internationalization to Improve QS World University Rankings

On June 12, 2024, the International Cooperation Service Center (PLKI) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the High Impact UIN Jakarta Internationalization Programs event in the Main Meeting Room of the Faculty of Science and Technology Building at UIN Jakarta. The event was attended by various academic stakeholders enthusiastic about the campus's internationalization development.

The discussion focused on the Foreign Service Travel Program (PERJADIN), which will be implemented by the Faculty of Science and Technology in an effort to improve UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's ranking in the QS World University Rankings. The head of PLKI, Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, M.A., Ph.D., presented various strategies and concrete steps planned to achieve this goal.

In her presentation, Prof. Maila emphasized the importance of research and citations as key indicators in the QS World University Rankings evaluation. She revealed that increasing the number of widely cited international publications is crucial for enhancing UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's academic reputation on a global scale. To this end, PLKI has designed several collaborative activities with renowned universities abroad, as well as training programs for lecturers and researchers to improve the quality and quantity of their research.

Prof. Maila also highlighted the need to increase international mobility for students and lecturers. Student exchange programs and cross-country research collaborations will provide UIN Jakarta's academic community with opportunities to interact with the international academic community, broaden their horizons, and enhance their global competencies.

The discussion event not only provided new insights into internationalization strategies but also served as a platform for sharing experiences and best practices in international cooperation. It is hoped that with the implementation of PERJADIN and other efforts, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will become increasingly recognized internationally and achieve higher rankings in the QS World University Rankings.

The discussion concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants actively asked questions and provided constructive feedback. Prof. Maila reaffirmed her commitment to continuously support and facilitate the campus's internationalization efforts to achieve UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's vision as a world-class university.
