Socialization and Training of Ekoenzim in Tangerang Regency and South Tangerang City with Agribusiness Study Program through GENTA and SDGs Center UIN Jakarta

Students of the Agribusiness Study Program through the GENTA (Generasi Citra Tani) community, together with the SDGs Center UIN Jakarta, have implemented a community service program to socialize and provide training in making eco enzymes at the KKN location during July-August 2024. The program was carried out in the Tangerang Regency and the City of South Tangerang. Nine villages are the objects of training in the Tangerang Regency, and two sub-districts are in the City of South Tangerang.

This program is an implementation of the mission of the SDGs Center UIN Jakarta, which is chaired by Prof. Dr. Lily Surayya Eka Putri and consists of several lecturers from the Faculty of Science and Technology, namely Dewi Rohma Wati, Titik Inayah, and Nurmaya Arofah who are also involved in this activity. Ecoenzymes are produced from household organic waste in the form of vegetables and fruit peels so that they do not become waste that is only thrown away and causes pollution problems in other places, both in landfills and around their homes.

This activity aims to make people more aware of protecting their environment starting from their homes, by reducing the waste thrown away or burned. In addition, places usually visited by many people such as offices, schools, health centers, and integrated health posts in villages/sub-districts, also produce organic and inorganic waste. The targets are housewives, village officials, community leaders, and young people who can later become agents in disseminating the benefits of this eco-enzyme.

The benefits of eco enzymes are numerous, especially in reducing the use of chemicals for cleaning and fertilizers. In addition, the surrounding environment, such as gutters and public waters (rivers and lakes), are also polluted due to the disposal of waste and soap liquids made from chemicals. The regular use of eco-enzymes can at least reduce pollution, that is very likely to have an impact on public health. (DRW, Agustus 2024).
